Learn to fence at Orlando fencing Sports Center during our summer day camps . This year, both Beginner and Intermediate Epee camps are planned. Beginner day camps are targeted at those who are new, or nearly new, to fencing. Each camp session comprises instruction, conditioning, drilling and bouting. All necessary equipment is supplied. The instruction covers a concise history of the sport, an introduction to the weapons, rules, technique and tactics, proper grip and stance, footwork, and strategy of modern Olympic style fencing . It will give aspiring fencers a good overview and grounding for further growth and development in this fascinating sport.
Intermediate Epee camps are for those who have already fenced for some time (typically at least one year), but not yet at a high competitive level (unrated, E rated, or D rated). It is assumed that intermediate fencers will already own their own equipment. The intermediate camp will reinforce basic skills, but also discuss and practice more advanced techniques and strategies.
Both summer camps run for five days, in either morning or afternoon sessions. Several hours of the day camps will be devoted to actual fencing, using competition weapons with electronic scoring.
