From its early days as a citrus-growing hub to its modern role as a melting pot of cultures, Orlando has always been shaped by the people who call it home. Learn about communities around Orlando through family-friendly activities and guided tours. Activities include: Historical Postcards – Learn about the historic communities around Central Florida while creating your own postcard. Pioneer Wagon – Create your own pioneer wagon! What items would you bring with you while moving to the Florida frontier? Produce Sorting – Celery, oranges, guava, and . . . pineapple? Learn the history behind these Florida-grown fruits and vegetables while getting your stock ready!
The History Center is home to the Historical Society of Central Florida’s collection of more than 35,000 artifacts, photographs, and archival materials documenting the rich heritage of our region. Ongoing exhibits include pioneers, theme-park era, destination Florida, Native American's, natural environment, and so much more to explore, touch, and see. Bring your 4-year-old or your high schooler – they are sure to have a great time with our hands-on activities and projects! We also offer homeschool program, school field trips, in-class supplies, and much more!
