The City of Maitland will give away 50 free trees to municipal residents from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Venue on Lake Lily, 641 S. Maitland Ave.
Trees include 30-gallon varieties of live oaks, Shumard oaks, crape myrtles, magnolias and red maples. Each tree was hand-picked by the city's certified arborist. Residents must be present with a vehicle capable to safely transport the tree - preferably a truck. One tree per household. Recipients must provide identification and proof of residency with address. Trees are offered on a first-come basis without reservations.
Drivers must stay in vehicles. Just pull up and city staff will load your choice of tree. A certified arborist will answer your questions about the right type of tree, care needs and best planting location.
