Join us for this year’s Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy Prayer Breakfast event! Hosted by the Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy family, Southwest Orlando Jaycees, the YMCA of Central Florida, and the City of Orlando’s Martin Luther King Commission, the annual event commemorates the legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy, Orlando’s first African American City Council Member. Held each year on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, this event brings together civic leaders, pastors, and Central Florida neighbors in the shared commitment to strengthen our community and improve lives.
The YMCA of Central Florida and the Southwest Orlando Jaycees will award multiple Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy Scholarships on the basis of academic performance, essay quality, and volunteer/charitable service record as well as participation in school leadership and/or extracurricular programs. All essays will be reviewed by the Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy Scholarship Committee.
