Winter Garden Police Department Safety Programs

Car Seat Inspection: The Winter Garden Police Department offers a unique Child Car Seat inspection program designed to ensure child car seats are properly installed improving the safety of the child. Bicycle Registration Program: Bike registrations can be made by bringing your bicycle to the Police Department.

Crime Prevention Presentations: Topics that can be presented include home security, business security, robbery, theft, and burglary prevention. Neighborhood Watch: This program utilizes the first line of defense against crime, the common citizen, to report suspicious persons or activities in their neighborhoods to the police.

Operation Identification: This program entails marking your valuables by engraving your driver's license number on them to deter theft and facilitate the recovery of your belongings should a theft occur.

Residential / Business Security Surveys: A free and confidential security survey of your home or business is conducted by officers who are certified in crime prevention.

S.A.F.E.: Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange (SAFE) is an unparalleled 2-hour educational awareness, crime-victim prevention program designed by the National Self-Defense Institute.

Ever wonder what goes on inside your police department? Get your questions answered at the next Citizens Police Academy class! This is a 9-week course meeting every Wednesday evening at the Winter Garden Citizens Police Academy from 6 to 9 p.m. The classes are free to residents and instructed by Winter Garden police officers and staff who will discuss such topics as:

• Criminal investigations
• Defensive tactics
• Drug identification
• Special operations
• Uniformed patrol
• Many other interesting topics
• Also available is a ride-along with a uniformed patrol officer.
