ASGO was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteer parents to better assist families of children and adults with autism in the Central Florida area. The mission of ASGO is that all individuals within the autism spectrum will be provided a lifetime network of opportunities to become fully accepted, included, and actively participating members of our community, through family support, education, advocacy, and public awareness. ASGO is a not-for-profit organization. The organization is open to parents, children, professionals, friends, and individuals within the autism spectrum.
As a benefit of membership, ASGO provides social skills groups to individuals with autism ages 2 thru adulthood. Our unique social skills groups allow children/teen/adults with autism the opportunity to participate in community outings while being provided the support and understanding they need to have a successful experience. ASGO picks up the entire cost of participation for the individual with autism so that cost is never a factor in being able to access this support/service.
Autism Art is a new program developed by the Autism Society of Greater Orlando to give adults with autism a meaningful day program that allows them to express themselves through art. The individuals with autism will create pieces and will then display them in a gallery, at art shows, etc. The pieces will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefitting the artist. ASGO will underwrite the program by paying for the art therapist/behavior analyst, the fees associated with entrance into the various shows, and miscellaneous expenses. The participants will be responsible for a material fee per piece. We are very excited about this new program and the doors it can open.
