The Orange County History Center's mission is to serve as the gateway for community engagement, education, and inspiration by preserving and sharing Central Florida’s continually unfolding story. Located in the heart of downtown Orlando, the History Center offers four floors of dynamic exhibits exploring 12,000 years of Central Florida history. Enjoy limited-run exhibitions scheduled and riveting programs throughout the year.
The History Center offers great ways for members of Scouts BSA and Girl Scouts to earn badges in Citizenship, Textile, American Indian Lore, Art, and Sculpture. Our fun, skill-building workshops provide great opportunities to learn more about the rich history in Florida as well. Our home-school curriculum is developed to meet grades K-5 standards, but all ages enjoy our programs. Bring your 4-year-old or your high schooler – they are sure to have a great time with our hands-on activities and projects! We also offer lessons for teachers in the classroom as well - over the period of a week, our Teach-In bin will rotate among the classes in your grade level, and we’ll facilitate a scheduled live virtual lesson for each classroom. Little Historians: Introduce your early learners to history by exploring Florida’s trailblazing past. Each month features a new themed lesson that includes storytime, exhibit exploration, and engaging activities for your little historians to dig in and get hands-on!
**On the Third Thursday of each month, we offer free admission from 5 to 8 p.m.
