At Oak Ridge Children's Academy we believe an effective child-care center recognizes and assesses each child's social-emotional development, intellectual growth, and physical skills. We also believe the curriculum is everything that happens in the classroom, from interactions and meals to singing and playing. Our staff never misses an opportunity to educate. We continue to develop and build on a child's existing informal education, as well as the holistic needs of the child, recognizing that children enter pre-school with different experiences. Our teacher-guided activities ensure that all children's development is supported and enriched. These activities are particularly important for children who come to school with relatively little exposure to any type of pre-school program.
Our Afterschool program offers table games, arts and crafts, dramatic play, cooking, creative language, exploring, music, computers, and special interest areas. The children are divided into two groups 5-7 and 8-12. This enables us to provide an age-appropriate environment, as well as promoting fair play.
