The Center for Future Educators provides students with an opportunity to explore various career paths within the field of education. Challenging them beyond the traditional classroom, students interact with a unique course progression comprised of integrated advanced placement, dual enrollment, and honors courses. The magnet provides students with innovative, real-world internships in OCPS schools, exposing them to different classroom environments, ideologies, and pedagogies, ultimately providing a broad perspective on teaching and learning. Additionally, students partner with Valencia College, University of Central Florida, and Orange County Public Schools to grow in their journey to be a top educator.
The Engineering, Science and Technology (EST) Magnet is designed to provide students with academically rigorous and meaningful experiences in engineering and computer-based design. Engineering majors complete curriculum from Pathways to Engineering progression developed by Project Lead the Way and Embry-Riddle University’s Aerospace Engineering Career Academy, leading to college credit. Technology majors will delve into the world of 3D Animation, Graphic Design or Gaming and Simulation Programming and have the opportunity to earn up to six separate industry certifications. EST students will work in teams on the EST STEAM project which simulates the research, development and marketing aspects of the modern engineering and technology company. This curriculum, as well as our business and academic partners, expose our students to the industry and prepare them for a future career in engineering, architecture, technology and design. Students throughout the Orange County School District may apply for this magnet. Participating students enter the magnet as freshmen and a limited number may enter as sophomores.
