Something’s coming, something good! Florida Musical Theatre Intensive launches its inaugural season with West Side Story, featuring music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Inspired by Romeo and Juliet, this landmark musical is set in 1950s New York City and follows two young people caught between rival gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. With an iconic score that includes “Tonight,” “America” and “Somewhere,” the show remains one of the most influential works in musical theatre history. As FMTI’s first full-scale production, this performance reflects the rigor and artistic standards at the core of the conservatory model. Featuring pre-professional performers from across Florida, the production showcases strong vocal performance, dynamic choreography and disciplined storytelling from the next generation of musical theatre.
