Social Media Specialist

Candidate will be responsible for growing and engaging followers on our Facebook & Instagram page to build a strong social media presence. We are looking for someone who is an avid user of Facebook. It is expected that the person in this role is someone with a passion for sharing about places to go and things to do with kids in the market. We are looking for a mom or dad who already spends time every month taking their kids to attractions, events, and programs in the market. We provide full training on what to post and how to schedule posts to Facebook.

Job Responsibilities:

  • 6 FB posts a day, 2 IG posts per day
  • Create social media graphics/images
  • Answer questions and messages on social media
  • Update social media page cover
  • Run Facebook giveaways
  • At least 4 times a month, visit an attraction, event, or family program to take photos and/or videos in the market to use on social media

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must live in the market.
  • Must be actively involved in local family activities.
  • Must be familiar with using Facebook/Instagram and be an active user. Experience managing business pages a plus, but not required.
  • Interpersonal Skills – is outgoing, friendly, easy to work with and approachable.
  • Technical Skills – comfortable with Facebook and willing to learn new software.
  • Writing Skills – correct spelling and follow grammar rules.
  • Organization Skills – able to plan, follow a schedule and get stuff done.
  • Research Skills – need to keep up with the fast-changing world of social media, what competitors are doing and what new measurement tools are being used to analyze performance.
  • Problem Solving Skills – can figure out what is working and not working.

Work Schedule

  • Hours and days are flexible and most of the work can be done from home at any time of day or night. Social media posts can be scheduled in advance. It expected that most often social media posts on Facebook will be scheduled at least 3 days in advance.
  • While scheduling posts can be done at any time, it is expected that messages, comments, posts, etc on social media will be responded to immediately whenever possible, but responses must be sent the same business day if received during the business day or the next business day if received at night.
  • Must be available to travel a few days per month to area businesses, playgrounds, events, etc for the purpose of taking photos to be used on social media posts.
  • Estimated time commitment is 20 hours a month.

Compensation:

  • $400/month
  • Tickets to local family events and attractions when available. Part of the compensation offered is tickets and other trade items as they come available. It is not required to accept any items offered. The value of all items accepted will be reported as income to the IRS.
  • This is a contract worker position. If hired, you will need to submit an invoice for the work performed for the previous month. Payment will be sent within 7 days of receiving the invoice.
