Hebrews 10:24

And let us consider how we may SPUR one another on toward love and good deeds...

At the beginning of the school year, we take considerable time to test and assess each child’s learning style, ability and needs. Our teaching methods and curriculum are tailored to their unique learning styles and talents. In addition to teaching basic skills and content areas in the traditional class setting, Spur Christian Academy encourages and offers students extracurricular activities that continue to stimulate learning. Our golf, chess, music, dance, physical education, and oratorical enrichment programs will nurture your child's relationships and academic development.

what is learning styles teaching?

Every student learns differently. Learning style refers to the way a person best absorbs, processes, comprehends, and retains information.

Our teaching methods and diverse curriculum meet students' unique learning styles and talents. Although we teach the basic skills and core subjects in the traditional class setting, Spur Christian Academy also offers students diverse assignments that continue to stimulate learning.

what are learning styles examples?

      Visual (spatial) Learner.

      Logical (mathematical) Learner.

how is reading approached?

Abeka is a complete program with a heavy focus on phonics and language development. Abeka’s research has identified a set of skills students must master before they can become fluent readers. These skills include the alphabet, the concept of print, phonological awareness, phonics, high-frequency words, and fluency.

what is abeka?

Abeka is a Biblical base curriculum. It has historically met or exceeded recommended content standards. Abeka language arts and mathematics objectives meet almost all Common Core content standards. The Abeka curriculum also ensures that students learn and develop the necessary skills to become fluent readers.

how is learning approached?

All programs approach learning through a Christian-based structure. Students also learn through real-world experience, current events, and group discussions. Spur Christian Academy teachers teach students learning styles to help ALL students better understand and master foundational learning concepts in language arts, arithmetic, science, history, geography, science, and health. In addition, Spur Christian Academy's technology, STEM, extracurricular, and team project learning teach students leadership and critical thinking skills.

what is ability grouping?

Spur Christian Academy uses a combination of the best curriculums. We have found that one teaching method doesn't always support each student's learning pace and ability. Spur Christian Academy sometimes mixes different ages within a group to learn a concept before moving them on to learn another skill.
