Welcome to Lucious & Emma Nixon Academy! We are excited to begin our sixth year as an Orange County Public Charter School! Lucious & Emma Nixon Academy Charter is a tuition-free, public charter school, which serves students in grades K-5. As a CSP grant recipient school, we provide a rigorous academic program that places emphasis on the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math with the Arts integrated) educational model. With the additions of our brand new Music room and hands-on Science Lab, we are growing in greatness. We are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with our families and the communities of Orange County, to help our students become the best them they can be. Coronavirus (COVID-19) Orange County Public Schools is in constant communication with the Florida Department of Health and Department of Education regarding responses to COVID-19. As of late March 19, there have been 432 cases confirmed in Florida and nine residents have died. Like OCPS, Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy is following appropriate protocols to protect staff and students. The district’s and school's current cleaning products are proven effective against the Coronavirus (the virus that causes COVID-19). The school custodial staff is doing thorough "deep cleanings" of classrooms and offices during spring break. If any person exhibits any of the symptoms listed below, he or she will be encouraged to stay home. Isolation limits the spread of the virus and will protect the overall health and wellness of others. Anyone with symptoms should call a medical provider for guidance on what to do. Medical providers will ask questions to screen people for COVID-19 or other illnesses, including the "common flu" which is also prevalent this time of year. |
