Summer Camps

2024 Summer Camps

If you are new to the sport of rowing, our Learn To Row camps are for you.  If you are a current OARS rower, or a rower from a different club or high school team, looking to get back on the water or improve your strength and fitness, we also have camps for you!

Learn To Row Camp

Learn To Row is a great chance for High School and Middle School boys and girls to try the sport of rowing for the first time.  The aim of Learn to Row is to get rowers on the water as soon as possible. They will learn about safety, both on and off the water, be able to identify boats and equipment,  and most importantly learn good rowing technique all while having fun on the water.

This camp runs Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 10:30 am
Cost per session: $175

You may sign up for one or more sessions, payments are non-refundable and due at time of registration.

Session 1:        June 3 - 7                    (Register for Session 1)
Session 2:        June 10 - 14              (Register for Session 2)     
Session 3:         June 17 - 21             (Register for Session 3)  
Session 4:         June 24 - 28             (Register for Session 4)
Session 5:         July 8 - 12                  (Register for Session 5)
Session 6:         July 15 - 19               (Register for Session 6)
Session 7:         July 22 - 26               (Register for Session 7)
Session 8:         July 29 - August 2 (Register for Session 8)


High School Strength and Conditioning Camp

Excellent training for all of our current High School OARS rowers and rising 9th graders. If you want to make significant performance gains over this summer, this camp is for you!  You may sign up for any number of weeks, but in order to get the full training benefit, it is really suggested that rowers commit to 3+ weeks. 

Rising 8th graders from our Middle School Program intending to join the 8th Grade Competitive Program this fall may take this camp with the understanding that this camp should be taken seriously and will be strenuous.

This class runs Monday, Wednesday,  and Friday from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. The cost of this camp is: $60

Middle School Strength and Conditioning Camp

Excellent training for all of our current Middle School OARS rowers. This is a great add on to the Middle School Rowing Camp.  Send your rower with a lunch  for in between the camps.  You may sign up for any number of weeks, but in order to get the full training benefit, it is really suggested that rowers commit to 3+ weeks. 

Rising 8th graders from our Middle School Program intending to join the 8th Grade Competitive Program this fall may take this camp that does not conflict with the MS Rowing Camp.

This class runs Monday, Wednesday,  and Friday from 12:45 pm - 2:15 pm. The cost of this camp is $60.


Middle School Rowing Camp

Offered to all current OARS middle school program rowers who have rowed for at least 1 season and are planning on rowing with either the MSP, 8th Grade Competitive, or High School Programs during the school year. This camp will help fine-tune rowing technique & get our rowers on the water!

Former MSP Rowers intending on joining the High School program this fall may join this camp or the HS sculling camp.

This camp runs Monday through Friday 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
The cost of this camp is: $100/session


High School Rowing/Sculling Camp

Row during the calm morning hours this summer and become a better rower!  This camp is offered for high school athletes (including former MSP rowers intending to join the High School program this fall). The goal is to develop technique by rowing primarily in small boats including singles, doubles, quads, and fours.  Rowers from other area programs may join this camp.  Rowers will make gains in fitness & technique while enjoying being on the lake again. Ultimately allowing them to be in a more competitive position as they enter the fall season.  This camp is 2 weeks long and utilizes the best water of the day in the early mornings!

***There is the possibility of attending the Halifax Regatta  in July if the right number of rowers participate.  Regatta entry fees are not included in the price of the camp and will be assessed prior to participation at the regatta.

There are 3 sessions of this camp each lasting 2 weeks.  
Rowers may attend 1, 2, or  3 sessions.
Cost per session: $225

Monday through Friday
6:15 AM - 8:15 AM


High School Weekend Rowing/Sculling Camp

Busy during the week?  Row on the weekends this summer and become a better rower!  This camp is offered for high school athletes (including rising 9th graders).  The goal is to develop technique by rowing primarily in small boats including singles, doubles, quads, and fours.  Rowers from other area programs may join this camp.  Rowers will make gains in fitness and technique while enjoying being on the lake again.  Ultimately allowing them to be in a more competitive position as they enter the fall season.  This camp is a 2 day camp that runs Saturday and Sunday Mornings!

There are 4 sessions of this camp each lasting 2 days.  Rowers may attend as many sessions as they like.
Cost per session: $60

Saturday & Sunday
8:00 AM - 11:00 AM


High School Erg Camp

The foundation of all rowing is fitness and performance on the Rowing Ergometer.  Perfect your form and decrease your split by participating in this 2 week Erg camp that runs 3 days per week.  This camp is open to all High School Rowers (including rising 9th graders).

This camp runs for 2 weeks/3 days per week
Monday/Tuesday/Thursday
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Cost per session: $120
